The Art of Instinct and Intuition Mastermind

Take your practice from proficient and effective to a master-level therapeutic process.

I mount my horse for the riding assessment required to be accepted into this three day clinic. If I pass, I will be accepted to ride. If I do not pass, I will have to audit the clinic from the sideline. This is unique as this is the first clinic I have participated in that requires this sort of assessment.

Dillon, my Flea Bit Gray Quarter Horse, and I ride a 20 meter circle as requested, then a half-pass, then a side-pass. Finally, we are instructed to canter down the fence line and return to the center of the arena at a trot. As we approach the evaluator, he asks, “have you had lessons?” I do not know if this question is because I rode well or poorly so I am hesitant as I answer “yes.”

The evaluator smiles, “congratulations, you will be riding in the clinic the next three days.” You see, he does not teach horseback riding. He teaches the next level — Horsemanship.

My journey into this realm of “Relational Horsemanship” begins, moving away from riding lessons where the instructor is micromanaging every move to a journey of riding with instinct and intuition from my inner core.

I invite you as therapists, coaches, and mentors to enter into a similar journey with me regarding your work helping those you assist in their healing and growth.

This journey allows you to enter into the realm of leading your work with the ‘instinct and intuition’ that is a natural part of you. We will tap into what healers have brought for thousands of years, integrated with new discoveries of our breath, body, and nervous systems all held in the cauldron of “I - Thou - We.”  After teaching thousands of therapists and coaches the basics, the beginner level skills, I carry a deep desire to pass on the knowledge, learning, and creativity that I have acquired these past 50+ years of working with adults, children, and families.

I invite you on this journey with me…

Learn how to bring INSTINCT, INTUITION, and LOVE into your practice.

CORE CONCEPTS

Core Concepts of Instinct and Intuition:

  1. These are the birthrights of all beings and are often dulled through culture, trauma, and deficits.

  2. They originate from the body and offer bottom-up guidance, more accurate perceptions, and clarity in responses.

  3. Restoring them is a process of unlearning the societal lifestyle and conditioning not aligned with our biological, social, and psychological design.

  4. Protocol and behavioral therapies are top-down processes, bypassing the intelligence of instinct and intuition in yourself and your clients.

  5. Facilitating therapy with this whole-body guidance is not a “hat” or technique. This is a holistic living process and lifestyle.

This course will teach you:

  1. Reawaken pathways to your own instinct and intuition, and support a healthy examination of psychotherapy and cultural ‘norms’.

  2. Deepen your ability to be present and embodied in sessions which naturally helps our clients do the same through co-regulation.

  3. Clients will co-regulate with us no matter what. Our job is to allow them to co-regulate in a way that is healing. Clients will follow us if we regulate ourselves from the top down. When we instinctually regulate from the bottom up, they will also follow us.

  4. Learn human attachment and development models that have evolved from an instinctual and intuitive place.

  5. Relational trauma, systemic dysfunction, and severed relationships separate and isolate clients from their inborn instinct and intuition. Learning how to restore these through attachment, development, and relationships is our primary foundational process.

  6. Learn how to restore the societal process that separates you and your clients from their earthly inheritance to attach, develop, and engage in relationships and to make decisions from the WHOLE of your own and their being.

  7. As coaches/therapists/mentors, we can only take clients as far as we’ve gone ourselves. We will challenge you to explore your own impasses so you can go deeper with your clients.

Therapy is the process of supporting another to live fully in their body
with the ability to be present, make contact and have full choice in their lives.

This mastermind is for high-level therapists and coaches who have at least three years of client experience.

  • Are you ready to take your skills and knowledge to a more advanced level?

  • Do you find yourself working harder than your clients?

  • Do you find yourself hitting a wall with yourself and your clients?

  • Do you find yourself thinking, “meh” after some of your sessions?

“I’ve noticed through many decades that many therapists and coaches try to problem solve vs. drop into their core instinct and intuition in a responsive way. Tapping into instinct and intuition is what allows us to have a spontaneous creative response to a client in a particular therapeutic moment.” ~Duey

Spend just over four months with us both in-person and online to embody the process of using your instinct and intuition while facilitating clients. Learn how to take your practice from proficient and effective to a master-level therapeutic process. These are skills that allow you to work with anything that comes your way.

  • "Duey and Kimberly are the most amazing humans, teachers and experiential healers. I've trained with them over the past 4 years and it has completely transformed my life and my work. They've helped me to restore sacred connections with myself, others, and the whole of life. Meet Your Instructors

Hi, I’m Duey.

He has traveled to teach professionally in over 8 countries, has developed a practical attachment theory and human development theory that is taught to thousands of university students, is approaching 80,000 direct client hours, and co-founded both the Gestalt Equine Institute and the Gestalt Institute of the Rockies. He supervises therapists and graduate students, does business and land consultations for new equine therapy sites, and models being a life-long student to your passions.

Gestalt and Relational Horsemanship are not just approaches to Duey; they are how he walks through the world. He embodies both tenderness and strength in all his relations and work. His quality of contact and relationship with others is authentic and unique, and he has many people coming from around the country and world to study with him. He has worked incredibly hard to master his arts and finds great joy in teaching ‘honest students.’

Hi, I’m Kimberly.

After 20 years of work in animal welfare, environmental rights, and nature education, Kimberly was called to step into the field of psychotherapy to more deeply address the disconnection at the root of her activism. Trusting in the power of the human/nature relationship and the wisdom of the body to heal fractured attachments internally and externally, Kimberly now guides clients and students to connect with their intuitive, animal selves and their local landscapes. She has facilitated nature-based therapy for 14 years and has been a nature guide for 28 years. Kimberly is owner and operator of Colorado Ecotherapy Institute and Relational Rewilding Nature Guiding where she blends gestalt, ecology, herbalism, animal tracking and somatic intelligence into her work. Kimberly teaches nature approaches to therapy for the Gestalt Equine Institute of the Rockies and The Golden Wellness Center. She is an instructor for Denver Botanic Gardens and Audubon Society of Greater Denver and is a student in The Embodied Present Process program.
